JVC CD-1669 Stereo Cassette Deck

This JVC CD-1669 is a stereo cassette deck with JVC's ANRS noise reduction, it was first sold by JVC in 1973 with a manufacturer suggested retail price of USD $500 and discontinued a year later.

The main features of the JVC CD-1669 cassette deck are: 2 heads, mechanical 3 digit tape counter, tape type selection and capable of handling normal tapes, belt driven single-capstan transport.

Typical of this deck is the 70's top loading layout with the cassette compartiment located on the left side of the deck. Tape eject is operated mechanically and the cassette needs to be placed with the side to be played facing forward in the cassette well.

With ANRS noise reduction used in the CD-1669 the signals of low level are compressed in the recording process and expanded in a complementary way during playback in order to reduce noise without altering the tonal quality of the original sound. In this Automatic Noise-Reduction System's process, the hissing noise inherent in tape recording in the region of 5 kHz, is reduced by approximately 10 dB.
