The Sanyo Super-D noise reduction system is a compander circuit intended to compress and expand the audio signal to reduce noise. In the OTTO NRA-3300 Super-D operates in two divisions, medium low band and medium high band. The 19kHz multiplex pilot slgnal present in FM stereo broadcasts can cause false triggering of the noise reduction system. The switchable MPX filter of the NRA-3300 filters out the pilot signal, and assuring proper Dolby processing of FM stereo programs.
